Throughout 2015, press freedom continued its years-long decline.

Across the globe, journalists increasingly found themselves subject to violence, harsh laws, censorship and more. In April, Freedom House reported that press freedom has fallen to its lowest level in more than a decade.

As a result, just 14 percent of the world’s population resides in a country where journalists enjoy safe working conditions and are free from legal, governmental or economic pressures.

Is there any hope? What can be done to improve press freedom? Five journalists from countries with compromised press freedom recently shared their thoughts on the matter with IJNet.
