Investigative reporting fellowship
Deadline: April 3, 2023
Investigative Reporters and Editors is offering fellowships that will include complimentary registration to its investigative conference in Orlando, Florida. Fellows will also receive a $500 stipend. Journalists and journalism students are eligible to apply.
Health Equity fellowship
Deadline: April 10, 2023
Early to mid-career journalists and other professionals can apply for the Atlantic Fellows for Health Equity’s 2024 fellowship program. Participants will attend in-person and online sessions, receive coaching, peer mentoring and team-based learning. Proficiency in English is required.

Science journalism contests
Deadline: April 12, 2023
The American Geophysical Union is accepting applications for the David Perlman Award for Excellence in Science Journalism - News, the Walter Sullivan Award for Excellence in Science Journalism - Features and the Robert C. Cowen Award Sustained Achievement Science Journalism. Winners will receive cash prizes and more.
Storytelling grants
Deadline: April 12, 2023
Project leaders in the areas of conservation, education, research, storytelling and technology can apply for National Geographic’s Level I and II grants. The grants may fund work in photography, filmmaking, cartography, journalism or digital media.
Documentary funding
Deadline: April 17, 2023
The Sundance Institute is accepting applications for the Sundance Institute Documentary Fund, which supports work that expresses the world in creative, complex, beautiful and provocative ways. Submissions should also seek to create cultural and social impact around some of the most pressing issues of our time.
Journalism summer school
Deadline: April 21, 2023
Young journalists, media activists, bloggers and others interested, 18 and older, can apply for the Boris Nemtsov Foundation for Freedom’s Summer School of Journalism and Cultural Studies at Ruhr University. Most classes are conducted in Russian.
Human rights fellowship
Deadline: April 23, 2023
The International Women’s Media Foundation is seeking print, broadcast and online women journalists who focus on human rights and social justice for its Elizabeth Neuffer Fellowship. Applicants must have a minimum of three years of experience in journalism. Fellows will receive a stipend and more.
Science journalism competition
Deadline: April 30, 2023
Experienced science journalists can compete for the Council for the Advancement of Science Reporting’s Sharon Begley Science Reporting Award. Interested applicants must submit three to five published clips or other work samples that illustrate their best work in science journalism. Winners will receive reporting grants.
