Environmental crime investigations grants
Deadline: November 4, 2022
Investigative journalists can apply for a grant to investigate environmental crimes in developing countries. GRID-Arendal is offering six grants for investigative projects on topics including illegal wildlife trade, plastic waste crimes and more.
Scholarships for aspiring editors
Deadline: November 15, 2022
ACES: The Society for Editing is accepting applications for the Bill Walsh Scholarship, which recognizes students who demonstrate excellence in news editing, and the ACES Education Fund Scholarship, which recognizes students who excel in critical thinking about written materials. College juniors, seniors or graduate students are eligible to apply for both scholarships.

Environmental journalism internship
Deadline: November 18, 2022
Early-career journalists with a passion for environmental subjects can apply for Mongabay’s partially paid Environmental Journalism Internship program. Interns will write six news stories on a variety of conservation and environmental topics over six months.
Photography grants
Deadline: November 18, 2022
The Aftermath Project is offering a US$25,000 grant for working photographers who tell stories of conflict that speak to how to rebuild destroyed lives and homes, to restore civil societies and to address the lingering wounds of war. This year’s grant will focus on 1492/1619 American Aftermaths. Photographers from underrepresented communities are encouraged to apply.
Fellowship on global issues
Deadline: November 20, 2022
Journalists covering politics or government issues can apply for the 2023 Kiplinger Fellowship, created by the Kiplinger Program in Public Affairs Journalism at Ohio University. Fellows will receive six days of immersive training from experts on covering political discourse and more.
Webinar on Ukrainian media
Deadline: November 23, 2022
The Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Oxford University is hosting a free webinar on how Ukraine’s largest newsroom stayed afloat in the war. English-speaking journalists can register for this event.
New media contest
Deadline: November 25, 2022
Students, bloggers, artists and writers can submit their innovative storytelling to the New Media Writing Prize, created by the Media School at Bournemouth University. Entries can be a short story, novel, poem, narrative game, documentary or transmedia work using words, images, film or animation with audience interaction. Winners will receive cash prizes.
Photo competition
Deadline: November 30, 2022
The World Photography Organization is accepting entries for its annual Sony World Photography Awards. Professional, amateur and young photographers can submit their work for a chance to win cash prizes and more.
