Resilience Fellowship against organized crime
Deadline: January 4, 2021
The Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime is organizing the second edition of the Resilience Fellowship, which is open to journalists from countries affected by organized crime. The program aims to build collaboration between civil society actors, human-rights activists, journalists and others. Fellows receive US$15,000. Learn more here.
Scholarships for journalism master’s program
Deadline: January 10, 2021
Students interested in a graduate degree in journalism can apply for a scholarship up to EUR49,000 for the Erasmus Mundus Master’s in Journalism, Media and Globalisation. Students spend their first year studying at Aarhus University in Denmark, and spend their second year studying at a different European partner university. Learn more here.

Grants to support media projects
Deadline: January 11, 2021
The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is seeking proposals for projects that advance democratic goals and strengthen democratic institutions. Grant amounts vary depending on the size and scope of the projects, but the average grant lasts 12 months and is around US$50,000. Learn more here.
Visual storytelling contest
Deadline: January 12, 2021
The World Press Photo Digital Storytelling Contest seeks entries that include professional photography in combination with, but not limited to, audio and visual elements like video, animation, graphics, illustrations, sound or text. Grants support environmental investigations
Deadline: January 22, 2021
GRID-Arendal's Environmental Crime Program is offering four grants of US$2,879 for investigative journalism projects focused on environmental crime in developing countries. Proposals for data journalism, data visualization, and open source intelligence are encouraged. Learn more here.

Public service journalism fellowship
Deadline: January 23, 2021
Marquette University, in partnership with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, is accepting candidates for the O'Brien Fellowship in Public Service Journalism. Fellows spend nine months researching, reporting and writing stories with potential to change policies and improve lives. Fellows receive a stipend, benefits, residency (COVID-permitting) and more. Investigative journalism contest
Deadline: January 30, 2021
The Sidney Hillman Foundation seeks entries for its Hillman Prizes, which honor investigative journalism and commentary that serves the common good. Entries are open in a variety of categories, and winners will receive recognition and a cash prize. Learn more here.
