World Press Photo organizes visual storytelling contest [Worldwide]

Posted on Dec 9, 2024 in Multimedia Journalism

Professional visual journalists can submit digital projects to a contest.

The World Press Photo Digital Storytelling Contest seeks entries that include professional photography in combination with, but not limited to, audio and visual elements like video, animation, graphics, illustrations, sound or text.

The contest has three format-based categories: singles, stories and long-term projects. These format-based categories encompass all thematic categories from previous contests – such as general news, spot news, contemporary issues, environment, nature, sports, portraits – therefore entries on a wide range of themes may be submitted to the appropriate format-based category.

Winners will be invited to a winners' event. Each contest winner will receive EUR1,000 (US$1,055). The World Press Photo of the Year winner will receive EUR10,000 (10,551).

Entries must have been published in 2024 in English or with English subtitles.

The deadline is Jan. 10, 2025.
