GRID-Arendal environmental journalism grants, Deadline: Nov. 1, 2015
GRID-Arendal, the center collaborating with United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), and SKUP, the Norwegian Foundation for a Free and Investigative Press, are offering two grants of NOK25,000 (US$3,068) for journalists to carry out a reporting project in 2016 on an organized environmental crime. The Aftermath Project is offering a US$20,000 grant for photographers who tell the other half of the story of conflict — the story of what it takes for individuals to learn to live again, to rebuild destroyed lives and homes, to restore civil societies and to address the lingering wounds of war while struggling to create new avenues for peace. Chevening Scholarship Program, Deadline: Nov. 3, 2015
Chevening Scholarships are the global scholarship program funded by the U.K.'s Foreign and Commonwealth Office and partner organizations for outstanding scholars with leadership potential. The scholarships are offered for many fields of study, including journalism and media. The program provides full or partial funding for full-time courses at the postgraduate level, normally a one-year master’s degree, in any subject and at any U.K. university. CUNY business journalism fellowship, Deadline: Nov. 15, 2015
The McGraw Center for Business Journalism at the City University of New York's Graduate School of Journalism offers a fellowship program to support in-depth coverage of business and the global economy. National Geographic photography contest, Deadline: Nov. 16, 2015
National Geographic is accepting entries for its 2015 photography contest in three categories - people, places and nature. The winner in each category will receive US$2,500, and his or her winning photograph will be published in National Geographic magazine. The grand prize winner will also receive US$7,500 and a trip to a National Geographic's photography seminar, including airfare, hotel accommodation and a behind-the-scenes tour of the magazine's headquarters. The Draper Hills Summer Fellowship on Democracy and Development is a three-week program that brings together 25 to 30 midcareer professionals in the field of democracy, development and the rule of law, especially those from developing countries. World Nomads is accepting applications for a travel photography scholarship. The trip will take place Feb. 7 to 18, 2016.
