GRID-Arendal environmental journalism grants, Deadline: Nov. 1, 2015

GRID-Arendal, the center collaborating with United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), and SKUP, the Norwegian Foundation for a Free and Investigative Press, are offering two grants of NOK25,000 (US$3,068) for journalists to carry out a reporting project in 2016 on an organized environmental crime. The Aftermath Project photography grants, Deadline: Nov. 2, 2015

The Aftermath Project is offering a US$20,000 grant for photographers who tell the other half of the story of conflict — the story of what it takes for individuals to learn to live again, to rebuild destroyed lives and homes, to restore civil societies and to address the lingering wounds of war while struggling to create new avenues for peace. Chevening Scholarship Program, Deadline: Nov. 3, 2015

Chevening Scholarships are the global scholarship program funded by the U.K.'s Foreign and Commonwealth Office and partner organizations for outstanding scholars with leadership potential. The scholarships are offered for many fields of study, including journalism and media. The program provides full or partial funding for full-time courses at the postgraduate level, normally a one-year master’s degree, in any subject and at any U.K. university. CUNY business journalism fellowship, Deadline: Nov. 15, 2015

The McGraw Center for Business Journalism at the City University of New York's Graduate School of Journalism offers a fellowship program to support in-depth coverage of business and the global economy. The program is accepting applications for long-form print or radio pieces. Fellows will receive grants of US$5,000 a month for one to three months. Click here for more information.

Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ) awards grants, Deadline: Nov. 15, 2015

Journalists can apply for grants up to US$5,000 to support their environmental reporting and entrepreneurial ventures around the globe. The Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ) awards grants to provide incentives and support to journalists who are building an environmental platform and are struggling financially to complete the project. National Geographic photography contest, Deadline: Nov. 16, 2015

National Geographic is accepting entries for its 2015 photography contest in three categories - people, places and nature. The winner in each category will receive US$2,500, and his or her winning photograph will be published in National Geographic magazine. The grand prize winner will also receive US$7,500 and a trip to a National Geographic's photography seminar, including airfare, hotel accommodation and a behind-the-scenes tour of the magazine's headquarters. Draper Hills Summer Fellowship on Democracy and Development, Deadline: Nov. 18, 2015

The Draper Hills Summer Fellowship on Democracy and Development is a three-week program that brings together 25 to 30 midcareer professionals in the field of democracy, development and the rule of law, especially those from developing countries. The 2016 program will take place July 17 to Aug. 5 in Stanford, California. World Nomads travel photography scholarship, Deadline: Nov. 25, 2015

World Nomads is accepting applications for a travel photography scholarship. The trip will take place Feb. 7 to 18, 2016. The winner will spend 10 days under the mentorship of travel photographer Richard I'Anson documenting the stories and community development projects that are rebuilding both local livelihoods and tourism in Nepal.
