Travel Photography of the Year Awards Deadline: October 1

Photographers of all skill levels can enter this year’s Travel Photography of the Year (TPOTY) Awards, which recognizes travel photography on a variety of genres and subjects. Winners will receive cash prizes up to GBP4,000 (US$5,240) and sponsors' gifts. For more information, click here.

Human Rights Watch fellowships Deadline: October 8

The Alan R. and Barbara D. Finberg Fellowship, offered by Human Rights Watch, allows recent graduates in a variety of fields, including journalism, to monitor human rights developments worldwide. Gates Cambridge Scholarship Deadline: October 12; December 7

Nieman Foundation fellowships Deadline: October 14

Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellowship Deadline: October 15

The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) allows journalists with an interest in democracy to hone their ability to promote democratic change with its paid fellowship program. Carmignac Gestion Photojournalism Award Deadline: October 16

Photojournalists worldwide who wish to cover an underrepresented part of the world can apply for the Carmignac Gestion Foundation’s photojournalism award.
