Independent newsrooms can apply for this fund.
The Facebook Journalism Project (FJP), in partnership with the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), has launched a US$2 million fund that will help news organizations in Latin America during the COVID-19 crisis.
The program is designed to support news media with grants ranging from US$10,000 to U$40,000, mentorship and digital training. The fund will address the organizations' most pressing economic needs, and support their work to engage and connect with their local communities online, while producing reliable information about COVID-19.
Funds may be used for different initiatives such as launching newsletters, removing exclusive access paywalls for subscriptions, hiring freelance journalists and more.
The deadline is May 26.
