Environmental journalism contest launched [Brazil]

Journalists and students can compete for this award.

The Culture Office and Art Foundation of the Niterói City Hall, in partnership with the Union of Professional Journalists of the State of Rio de Janeiro, organizes the Chico Mendes National Environmental Journalism Award.

The award aims to recognize and value stories that can contribute to the debate on the environment and sustainability in Brazil.

Works must have been published or broadcast between Jan. 1, 2017 and Feb. 10, 2020.

The categories are print journalism (newspaper); print journalism (magazine); TV journalism; radio journalism; web journalism; photojournalism; college journalism; and journalism in Niterói.

The winners in each category will receive BRL5,000, except for the university journalism category, whose prize is BRL1,500.

The deadline is Feb. 10, 2020.
