Knight Center hosts trilingual MOOC on data journalism [Worldwide]

Journalists and others interested in data journalism and visualization can participate in this six-week course.

The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas, through its Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), with support from the Google News Initiative, is offering the free course “Data journalism and visualization with free tools" Oct. 14 to Nov. 24.

The course will be taught in English, Spanish and Portuguese simultaneously by a team of instructors led by Alberto Cairo, Knight Chair in Visual Journalism at the University of Miami, and Simon Rogers, data editor on the News Lab team at Google.

Participants will learn how to produce a data journalism story from conception to finish. Topics include how to find and download data, prepare data for exploration and visualization, extract meaning from the data, machine learning and artificial intelligence for journalism, how to create visualizations and how to structure a data-driven visual story.

The course is accessible to anyone with an internet connection.
