Contest for young documentary photographers Deadline: September 1, 2017
The Ian Parry Scholarship contest is open to photojournalists and photography students under the age of 24. Two winners will be announced. These include the Award for Achievement, which will be nominated for the Joop Swart Masterclass in Amsterdam, and the Award for Potential, which will receive a year of mentorship from Simon Roberts. UN journalism competition Deadline: September 14, 2017
Journalists who report on the United Nations are invited to apply for this competition supported by the United Nations Correspondents Association (UNCA). Categories for submission include print (or online), broadcast, climate change and humanitarian/development projects. The prizes will total over US$60,000 and the winners will be presented by the UN Secretary-General at the awards dinner in December. To learn more, click here.
Collaborative journalism contest on clean energy Deadline: September 15, 2017
Clean Energy Wire (CLEW) is offering cash rewards for collaborative projects from at least two different countries that focus on topics of clean energy, climate policy and the shift to a low-carbon economy. Print, online and multimedia projects are all eligible. Learn how to apply here.
Migration film contest and festival Deadline: September 17, 2017
Filmmakers who have produced a film on migration are invited to submit their project to be included in UN Migration Agency’s (IOM) Global Migration Film Festival in December. The Epoch Times journalism contest Deadline: September 18, 2017

Grants available for investigative journalists Deadline: September 25, 2017

Texas A&M photojournalism grant Deadline: September 30, 2017
The Conflict and Development Center at Texas A&M offers US$5,000 grants to students from any university as part of the Student Media Grants Program. The program encourages students to use innovative ways to research and present issues in conflict areas, and winners commit to a three month project that will be published on the ConDev blog.
