Journalists based in African countries where great apes live can apply for grants.
Internews’ Earth Journalism Network (EJN) is offering grants for the production of in-depth stories on threats faced by great apes. EJN seeks to support stories that raise awareness about great apes and One Health and drive conversation among communities and policymakers at the local, national and regional level.
EJN is interested in stories that highlight the impact of disease, tourism and trafficking on the welfare of wild and captive apes, as well as laws, policies and treaties related to great ape conservation. Stories that explore the role of Indigenous knowledge in conservation efforts are also welcome.
Eight grants up to US$1,500 will be awarded.
The deadline is June 4.
