Media experts, journalists and technologists from newsrooms and startups around Europe can participate and receive grants.
Media Development Foundation, in partnership with the International Press Institute (IPI), is accepting applications for its Media Blend Hackathon. This is a three-day offline event in Sarajevo that will be held during the IPI World Congress and Media Innovation Festival in May.
Hackathon participants must have a project idea to enhance the financial sustainability of media outlets in threatened democracies.
In addition, participants will receive EUR5,000 grants to support project their ideas.
Applicants can apply alone or with a team.
Applicants must be based in one of the following countries: Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Ukraine.
The deadline is March 10.
