Al Jazeera accepts entries for sports journalism contest [MENA]

Arab sports journalists and students can enter this contest for a chance to cover the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup and attend the final in Qatar.

Al Jazeera Media Institute is accepting submissions for its Best Sports Story contest, sponsored by the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, the organization tasked with delivering the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and its legacy.

Contestants can submit entries of 2,000-3,500 words on local sports stories that had an impact on the community or documented personal incidents in major events, among other topics.

Winners will receive a US$1,000 cash prize and a fully funded trip to Qatar to attend and cover the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup from Nov. 30 to Dec. 18, 2021.

Applicants must be Arabs living in an Arab country and writing about local sports.

The application deadline is Oct. 15.
