Computation, journalism conference calls for proposals [Worldwide]

Journalists interested in the intersection of computation and journalism can participate in this event.

The University of Miami's Computation+Journalism Symposium (C+J) will be held in Miami on Dec. 11 and 12, in partnership with the The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the University of Miami Frost Institute for Data Science and Computing (IDSC) and School of Communication.

Participants are invited to submit short papers and proposals for workshops, talks and sessions. This year's theme is "Data Journalism under Autocracy."

Interesting and exciting thoughts or research about Generative AI, algorithmic accountability, data journalism education, accessibility or any other relevant topic are welcome. 

Possible topics include open-source investigations, “Behind the Scenes” on novel digital storytelling in news settings, monitoring news for human rights violations, new digital storytelling tools and techniques, and more.

The deadline for submissions is Sept. 7.

Conference registration fee is US$150 and US$30 for students.
