Journalists who need legal protection can apply for this program.

The Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism (Abraji) has applications open for the Legal Protection Program for Journalists.

The program provides full, free legal assistance for journalists threatened because of their public interest reporting, and who lack legal protection or support from a resourced newsroom.

Preference will be given to journalists based outside Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, and outside large metropolitan areas in Brazil, who prove not being able to afford legal services. Race and gender diversity will also be taken into account as a selection criteria.

Journalists in need of legal assistance can reach out to Abraji directly.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
