Environmental journalism award
Deadline: July 1, 2021
News organizations that provide young audiences with information and hope for saving the planet can enter this contest from French nonprofit, the Global Youth & News Media. The award recognizes an initiative or journalism project that has had an impact in effectively serving, supporting, attracting and/or learning from teenagers and young adults while reinforcing the role of journalism in society.
Contest for digital broadcasting
Deadline: July 2, 2021
The Association for International Broadcasting is accepting entries for their annual competition that recognize TV, video, radio and podcasting work. Journalists, filmmakers and podcasters from around the world can enter the contest. Winners will be announced during an online awards program in November.
Investigative journalism fellowship
Deadline: July 3, 2021
Investigative journalists and activists can apply for a full-time, nonresidential fellowship from the Bertha Foundation. The initiative, called the Bertha Challenge, this year will focus on supporting collaborative investigations around water. The fellowship offers a stipend of up to US$62,400, project funding of up to US$10,000, and a fund of up to US$5,000 to encourage collaboration, training, mentorship and networking opportunities.

Investigative journalism course
Deadline: July 5, 2021
Freelance journalists, staff writers and media organizations around the world can attend this online course from the Centre for Investigative Journalism. Part of the #CIJSummer Investigative Journalism Conference 2021, the course will focus on the Story-Based Inquiry method, which has been successfully used by thousands of journalists, academics and NGO researchers. Registration is ongoing but space is limited.
Business journalism fellowship
Deadline: July 16, 2021
Journalists with at least five years of experience can apply for this remote fellowship from the McGraw Center for Business Journalism at the City University of New York's Craig Newmark School of Journalism, which seeks to support in-depth coverage of business and the global economy. The program is accepting applications for in-depth text, video or audio pieces. Fellows will receive grants of US$5,000 a month for one to three months.

Program for documentary filmmakers
Deadline: July 22, 2021
Documentary filmmakers with new and original narratives can apply for the Global Short Docs Forum, which One World Media is organizing to take place online in October and November. Twelve filmmakers will be selected to attend. The Forum will focus on films that have a social, political or cultural narrative, take a solutions journalism approach or provide a new perspective on changes we want to see in the world.
Animation film festival
Deadline: July 31, 2021
Animators and visual journalists can submit feature/VR film entries to the 23rd Bucheon International Animation Festival (BIAF), which will take place in October in Bucheon City, South Korea. The official languages of the festival are Korean and English; non-English films must be subtitled in English. Winners will receive cash prizes.
