Iran's Institute Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies announced plans to revise six undergraduate programs in journalism and communication to align them with Islamic culture.

This project is part of sweeping changes in university studies in the humanities in Iran, reported.

Dr. Hamidreza Ayatollahi, director of the Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies, says universities have been asked to revise course curricula every five years.

He had stated earlier that these changes were necessary because, "in our country, a large part of the not in line with our Iranian-Islamic culture. This calls for a revision.”

The government considers humanities studies at Iranian universities "pro-Western" and has called for complete overhaul to better align them with Islamic teachings.
