Photography contest

The California Academy of Sciences is accepting entries for its BigPicture Natural World Photography Competition, which recognizes photographers whose work celebrates the rich diversity of life on Earth and inspires action to protect and conserve it. A total of US$12,000 in cash prizes will be awarded.
Climate journalism contest
Deadline: March 1, 2024
New organizations and journalists can apply now for Covering Climate Now and Columbia Journalism Review’s journalism award, which recognizes climate reporting published in 2023. Entries must be in English. Winners will be awarded in early summer.

Travel scholarships
Deadline: March 6, 2024
Transparency International’s International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) team is seeking young journalists to cover the IACC 2024 conference in Lithuania this June. Candidates must be younger than 35, fluent in English, and passionate about fighting corruption and investigating social issues. Airfare, accommodations and more will be covered.
Director job opening
Deadline: March 8, 2024
Candidates with demonstrated expertise in journalism and team leadership are eligible to apply to be director at the Centre de Formation au Journalisme et aux Médias’, where they will present strategic proposals to the Board of Trustees. This position is based in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Media project grants
Deadline: March 11, 2024
The National Endowment for Democracy is offering grants for projects that advance democratic goals and strengthen democratic institutions. Independent media organizations, civic groups and associations that seek to promote and defend human rights and the rule of law are eligible to apply.
Reporting award
Deadline: March 18, 2024
Journalists working on an underreported project in the public interest can apply now for New York University’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute’s Reporting Award, which supports research and reporting for a significant work of journalism. Winners will receive funding, an office and more.
Science journalism competitions
Deadline: March 27, 2024
The American Geophysical Union (AGU) is accepting nominations for its science journalism awards. Entries must have been published last year and be in English or include an English translation. Winners will receive a trip to attend the AGU Fall Meeting and more.
Media innovation festival
Deadline: March 31, 2024
Journalists can register now for the International Press Institute’s 2024 World Congress and Media Innovation Festival, which brings reporters together to explore new solutions, foster understanding and more. The two-day event will be held on May 22-24.
Mobile photography competition
Deadline: March 31, 2024
The iPhone Photography Awards is accepting submissions in 14 categories. All entries must have been taken with an iPhone or iPad and not altered in Photoshop or any desktop image processing program. Entry fees range from US$5.50 for one photo to US$75.50 for 25 photos.
