Law journalism competition
Deadline: March 2, 2025
Journalists with outstanding reporting on rule of law issues can compete for the World Justice Project’s Anthony Lewis Prize for Exceptional Rule of Law Journalism, which recognizes journalistic courage and craft that strengthens accountability, advances adherence to rule of law principles and more. The winner will receive a US$10,000 prize.
Conflict reporting fellowships
Deadline: March 3, 2025
The Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma is seeking mid-career journalists who want to deepen their knowledge of trauma and improve their coverage of violence for its fellowship. Fellows will attend background briefings by prominent interdisciplinary experts in the trauma and mental health fields, conversations on issues of ethics and more.

Communications fellowship
Deadline: March 7, 2025
Journalists who are interested in sustainability issues can apply now for the Club of Rome’s 2025 Communications Fellowship, in which the selected fellow will gain experience in communicating complex systems thinking for non-specialist audiences through a variety of platforms.
Photography contest
Deadline: March 14, 2025
The International Women’s Media Foundation is seeking nominations for its award, which recognizes women photojournalists who exhibit extraordinary strength of character. Nominations must be in English and include 12 photographs that best represent the style of the nominee’s work. The winner will receive a cash prize of US$20,000
Student journalism scholarships
Deadline: March 16, 2025
Student journalists serving their communities are eligible to apply for the National Press Club (NPC) and the NPC Journalism Institute’s scholarships for promising future reporters. Winners and runners-up will also receive a one-year complimentary membership to the NPC.
Digital innovation fellowship
Deadline: March 23, 2025
The International Center for Journalists and The Wall Street Journal have launched the 2025 News Corp Media Fellowship for Digital Innovation. Participants will attend digital innovation trainings and receive project grants. English-speaking journalists with experience working with data, audience engagement or newsletters are eligible to apply.
Contest for women journalists
Deadline: March 30, 2025
Full-time and freelance women journalists working in print, broadcast or online media can now be nominated for the International Women’s Media Foundation’s Courage in Journalism Awards. Winners typically receive cash prizes, and travel to the U.S. to attend the award ceremonies. Self-nominations are not accepted.
Business journalism fellowship
Deadline: March 31, 2025
The City University of New York’s Craig Newmark School of Journalism’s McGraw Center for Business Journalism is offering a fellowship to support in-depth coverage of business and the global economy. Journalists with at least five years of experience can apply for this remote program. Fellows will receive grants up to US$15,000.
Science journalism awards
Deadline: March 31, 2025
Reporters who cover science can be nominated for the American Geophysical Union (AGU)’s science journalism awards. Entries must have been published in 2024 and be in English or include an English translation. Winners will receive a trip to the AGU Fall Meeting and US$5,000.
