Documentary film festival
Deadline: April 1, 2025
Documentary filmmakers can submit their work to the Pärnu Film Festival, which will take place Oct. 5 to 13, in Pärnu, Estonia. This festival accepts documentaries of high artistic and scientific value, recording human activities in social, historical or ecological contexts. Entries not in English must include English subtitles.
LGBTQ+ reporting award
Deadline: April 1, 2025
The Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists’ Excellence in Journalism Awards recognizes top reporting on issues related to the LGBTQ+ community. Anyone, including non-members and journalists who do not identify as LGBTQ+ can apply. Entry fees range from US$25 to US$100.

Climate change fellowship
Deadline: April 2, 2025
Journalists with an interest in climate change and mental health can apply for the Carter Center’s Rosalynn Carter Mental Health and Climate Change Fellowship, which aims to explore the mental health impacts of climate change in low socioeconomic countries. Fellows will receive a stipend and attend an all-expenses paid fellowship training in Atlanta, Georgia.
Immigration reporting program
Deadline: April 4, 2025
Poynter is offering its next Beat Academy for reporters, editors, news directors and producers interested in building skills and know-how to tackle coverage of immigration. Participants will participate in an in-person workshop in El Paso, Texas, and five grants of up to US$7,500 per project also will be awarded.
Health equity fellowship
Deadline: April 10, 2025
Early to mid-career journalists and other professionals can apply for the Atlantic Fellows for Health Equity’s 2026 fellowship, which will build and support a group of leaders equipped with the technical knowledge, skills, and network to advance health equity in their organizations and communities. All educational experiences and travel expenses will be covered.
Business journalism program
Deadline: April 15, 2025
The School of Journalism and Communication at Tsinghua University, in partnership with the International Center for Journalists and Bloomberg News, is offering a masters of arts degree in global business journalism. Participants will learn to help the public understand the complexities of global business and the economy. A limited number of scholarships are available.
Climate economics fellowship
Deadline: April 20, 2025
Journalists interested in climate change and the economy can apply for New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business Climate Economics Journalism Fellowship, in which fellows will learn from globally recognized experts in the emerging field of climate economics. The cost of the program, including meals, will be covered and fellows will receive a stipend.
Human rights fellowship
Deadline: April 20, 2025
The International Women's Media Foundation is accepting applications for the Elizabeth Neuffer Fellowship. Women journalists with three years of experience and who focus on human rights and social justice are eligible to apply. A stipend will be provided and expenses will be covered.
Science journalism award
Deadline: April 30, 2025
Experienced science journalists can compete for the Council for the Advancement of Science Reporting’s Sharon Begley Science Reporting Award. Applicants must submit three to five published clips or other work samples that illustrate their best science journalism, and a project proposal describing a reporting and writing project to be undertaken with the grant.
