Contest honors women’s courage and achievement

Deadline: March 1, 2021

The International Women's Media Foundation (IWMF) is seeking nominations for its Courage in Journalism Award and Lifetime Achievement Award. Full-time and freelance women journalists working in print, broadcast or online media in any country can be nominated for an award. Winners receive cash prizes. Learn more here.

Public policy fellowship at Harvard University

Deadline: March 1, 2021

Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government is accepting applications for the Joan Shorenstein Center Fellowship in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Journalists with at least five years of experience can apply to spend one semester in residence sharing, expanding and researching public policy and political affairs. Learn more here.

Environmental journalism contest

Deadline: March 1, 2021

The Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ) is accepting submissions for its annual recognition of excellence in environmental reporting. The awards honor journalists in 10 categories, including feature story, investigative reporting, explanatory reporting and book. Winners receive cash prizes. Learn more here.  

Fellowship for science journalists

Deadline: March 16, 2021

Early-career science, technology and health journalists can apply for the EurekAlert! Fellowships for International Science Reporters, which enables selected journalists to cover a future in-person AAAS Annual Meeting, since this year’s will be virtual. Learn more here

Scholarships for journalism courses in the Netherlands

Deadline: March 23, 2021

Midcareer journalists from several developing countries can apply for a scholarship from the Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP) to attend a short course or master's program in the Netherlands. Learn more here

Contest for iPhone photography

The iPhone Photography Awards (IPPAWARDS) is an annual competition recognizing iPhone photography. Photographers can submit their photos taken on an iPhone or iPad to 18 different categories. Winners will receive an upcoming Apple product. Learn more here. 

Full scholarships for master’s program

DW Akademie is accepting applications for its International Media Studies program (IMS) in Bonn, Germany. Students who successfully complete the four-semester program will be awarded a master of arts degree.
