Print, broadcast and online journalists can apply for fellowships to participate in a training event in Rome.

The Thomson Reuters Foundation, with funding from the United Nation's International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), will select journalists to attend IFAD's event on innovative approaches to inclusive financing for rural transformation on Feb. 10 to 13, 2020.

Participants will build expertise and increase knowledge of issues faced by rural communities and the 2030 Global Agenda. Journalists will have access to high profile delegates, leading experts in the issues, including IFAD and UN technical experts, as well as small holder farmers.

Applicants must have at least two years of experience and a good level in spoken and written English. Candidates should include professional evidence of their interest in rural peoples’ issues and development.

Fellowships cover air travel, accommodation, meals and local transportation for journalists from developing countries. After the workshop, the selected journalists are expected to pursue stories along rural development issues in their home countries.

The deadline is Jan. 6, 2020.
