True Story Award accepting entries in 12 languages [Worldwide]

Journalists anywhere can enter in this international contest.

The True Story Foundation, in partnership with Reportagen Festival Bern, organizes the True Story Award, which aims to provide recognition for exceptional written reports in all countries.

Works can be submitted in 12 languages: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Arabic, Hindi, Russian, Persian, Portuguese, Chinese and Japanese. Works written in other languages must be translated into English and submitted in the categories "Europe" or "World."

Texts of 3,000 to 17,000 words published in print or online between in 2019 are eligible.

The total prize pool is CHF177,000 (US$182,208), with 42 nominees each receiving CFH3,000 (US$3,088) and attending the award ceremony in spring 2021 in Bern. The three overall best texts will be awarded CHF30,000 (US$30,882), CHF20,000 (US$20,588) and CHF10,000 (US$10,294) each.

The deadline to apply is Jan. 24.
