Posted on Jan 16, 2019 in Data Journalism

Journalists who participated in an ICFJ program can apply for this grant.

The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), in partnership with the Microsoft Modern Journalism program, will award four grants for six-month reporting projects focusing on data journalism and immersive technology.

The first call is intended for ICFJ alumni with an interest in producing data-driven stories. The second call, focusing on immersive technology, will open in March.

The grants will also cover hands-on training in tools and techniques, plus instruction in relevant Microsoft technologies.

Projects must combine reporting with data analysis and visualization using leading data analysis and management tools like Microsoft Excel, Power BI and Azure. The resulting stories should be published in English before Aug. 15.

The deadline is Feb. 11.
