Five reporting grants for Syrian women journalists [Middle East]

Posted on Jun 10, 2025 in Specialized Topics

Experienced Syrian women journalists are eligible to apply for reporting grants.

The Al-Jumhuriya platform is offering grants to support women journalists in completing in-depth stories or investigations which highlight a topic of public interest in Syria or within Syrian diaspora communities.

Women journalists will collaborate with Al-Jumhuriya’s editorial team and receive assistance in proofreading, visual design, translation and distribution.

Story pitches can focus on human rights violations against Syrians by those in power, the complex realities faced by Syrian women, the lives of Syrian youth aged 15 to 30, and more.

Five grants of EUR5,000 (US$ 5,700) each will be awarded.

The application for the grant program must consist of the project proposal written in Arabic, CV, a detailed description of the story - outlining the key questions the project will address, its significance and its relevance to the broader theme. Candidates should attach the required documents as attachments via email, as indicated in the opportunity's application link.

The deadline is June 25.
