Africa Science Journalism Awards open [Africa]

African science journalists can enter a contest and compete for cash prizes.

The Science for Africa Foundation (SFA Foundation), with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, launches the Africa Science Journalism Awards (ASJA). The contest seeks to uplift credible health, science and development reporting. 

The awards will be given to African journalists whose stories cover the SFA Foundation’s thematic focus areas of health, climate change and environment, and agriculture.

Stories published between January 2022 to August 30, 2023 can be submitted in the following categories: innovative science journalist; science journalism media organization of the year; best news story or feature; innovator editors/editors award; and science champion.

Prizes range from US$1,500 to US$5,000.

The deadline is Aug. 31.
