Global issues fellowship
Deadline: December 1, 2021
The Kiplinger Program in Public Affairs Journalism at Ohio University organizes short-term fellowships to train journalists on how to report on the most pressing issues of our time. In 2022, fellows will receive immersive training from experts on covering climate change. Journalists with at least five years of experience can apply.
Fact-checking mentorship program
Deadline: December 3, 2021
Fact-checking organizations can participate in the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) mentorship program, which pairs organizations with signatories to the IFCN to enhance their skills on detecting misinformation on social media, industry collaboration and more. Participants will also receive grants.

Cancer journalism contest
Deadline: December 6, 2021
The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) is accepting applications for its June L. Biedler Prize for Cancer Journalism. Submissions must have been published for the first time between Jan. 1, 2020 and Nov. 30, 2021.
Mobile photography contest
Deadline: December 11, 2021
Photographers who capture photos with their mobile phone cameras can submit their work to the Mobile Photography Awards. Entries will be judged on creativity, originality and for highlighting the contest’s theme. Winners will receive cash prizes.
Logan Nonfiction Program
Deadline: December 15, 2021
The Logan Nonfiction Program is seeking candidates for its 2022 fellowship class. The program offers workshops, mentorship and community working on socially relevant political, health, environmental, human rights and justice topics.

Kim Wall Memorial Fund grants
Deadline: December 16, 2021
Women journalists with three or more years of professional work experience can apply for the Kim Wall Memorial Fund grant, which provides funding to journalists whose work embodies the spirit of Kim Wall’s reporting. Applicants must be proficient in English.
International film festival
Deadline: December 31, 2021
The Hong Kong International Film Festival is accepting documentary film submissions completed after Jan. 1, 2021. Winners will receive up to US$3,000. This event will take place from Mar. 31 to Apr. 11, 2022.
Business journalism program
Deadline: December 31, 2021
English-speaking journalists can apply for Tsinghua University’s School of Journalism and Coomunication’s global journalism program in China. This program offers a master of arts degree in global business journalism. A limited number of scholarships are available to top applicants.
