Journalists interested in the U.S. elections reporting can apply for this free training.

The Poynter Institute and and its Craig Newmark Center for Ethics and Leadership are organizing "The weirdest election 'night' ever: what journalists and election-watchers need to know about the 2020 elections and a working democracy"  Sept. 9 to 10.

During four 90-minute sessions the training will foster lively discussion and vetting of best practices. Topics include reporting results, confronting misinformation, the role of television and elections "day" at the polls.

The program's panelists will be announced soon.

The deadline is Aug. 28.
