Journalists working or collaborating with the media in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay can apply for this program.

The Gabo Foundation, with support from the Open Society Foundations, is organizing the fifth edition of the Fund for Investigative Journalism and New Narratives on Drugs.

The initiative will provide up to US$5,000 to reporting projects that broaden the perspectives with which drugs are addressed in the region, and that enhance stories on public health, human rights, gender, the environment and the war against drugs.

Applicants can enter four categories: investigative journalism, local journalism, innovative journalism and collaborative journalism.

Up to 14 scholarships will be awarded. Each journalist or team will have a maximum of three months to research and produce the final version of their work.

The deadline is Nov. 23.
