When it comes to video production, editing is the key to making a successful video. As a videographer, you want to make sure that your video is able to tell a story smoothly. Even though some editing softwares and equipment are pretty expensive, it’s possible to shoot and edit video with just a smartphone in hand.

There are several free or affordable phone apps designed to edit video. We rounded up three video editing applications you should try in 2018:

1. Cinamaker

Cinamaker is a multi-camera live studio you can carry in your pocket. It allows you to synchronize four phones at a time and convert them into an on-the-go studio. Unlike conventional camera equipment, Cinamaker is highly portable and easy to set up. You can start streaming in under three minutes, compared to conventional equipment, which could take an extra hour or two.

Cinamaker claims it’s so easy to operate that even a 10-year-old could do it. The app is free to download, with in-app purchases costing extra.

2. LumaFusion

LumaFusion is a multitrack video editor created for mobile devices, which is used by mobile journalists, filmmakers and professional video producers. LumaFusion has a wide variety of features that allow you to successfully tell stories, including dozens of transitions, a live audio track mixer, powerful color correction tools, a royalty-free, curated music library and more.

This app is currently available for iOS devices and costs US$19.99. Before buying it make sure LumaFusion is perfect for you and has all the features you need.

3. FilmoraGo

FilmoraGo is an app that allows you to edit videos with fun effects like themes, titles & text, overlays, filters, elements and transitions — with more effects coming soon.

Available for iOS and Android devices, FilmoraGo brings desktop video tools to your mobile device, making it more convenient and accessible to edit video footage.
