Journalists interested in developing their investigative skills are encouraged to check out a manual released by the Forum for African Investigative Reporters (FAIR). The manual was put together with the help of industry experts, and is tailor-made for journalists working under difficult conditions, particularly in Africa.

Among the topics covered are: generating story ideas, forensic interviewing and ethics. The manual is written in an accessible, textbook format and includes a series of exercises. It currently has eight chapters, but FAIR is planning to release additional “beat” chapters. The first of these, “Investigating Health Issues,” is already available online.
