Staff journalists and freelancers can apply for this new program.

MIT Technology Review, in partnership with the Heising Simons Foundation, is accepting applications for the Covid Inequality Fellowships.

The program offers two kinds of fellowships to help journalists report on stories about COVID-19 inequality in under-covered communities in the United States.

The freelancer fellowship is intended for an independent journalist who may come from one of the affected communities they plan to report on or may know of an important story about a group they know well.

The newsroom fellowship is open to a staff journalist working with a specific outlet, who is looking for extra support to follow up on a story that is important to the readers they serve.

Fellows will receive up to US$7,500, editorial oversight and assistance from the MIT Technology Review team.

The deadline is March 21.
