College juniors and seniors, and specifically African Americans, Latinos and other people of color who work or want to work at college journalism outlets can compete for a stipend and mentorship.
ProPublica is accepting applications for its Emerging Reporters Program. The program aims to make college journalism accessible to students for whom it would otherwise be economically out of reach.
Five minority students will receive US$9,000 and ongoing mentoring from ProPublica’s reporters and editors. Emerging Reporters will also receive a trip to a journalism conference.
The deadline is Aug. 21.
