Journalists interested in reshaping the media in South Africa can apply for this program in Johannesburg.

Jamlab, a journalism and media accelerator and innovation lab, offers a six-month accelerator program for journalism and media innovators.

Proposals must aim to disrupt the existing media landscape or reaching communities not being adequately served by existing journalism and media, or transforming how journalism and media are and have been practiced. They can be new journalism startups or existing ventures or ideas that need help to grow.

Participants will receive free workspace and membership at the Tshimologong Digital Innovation Precinct, mentorship and coaching from experts, a six-month fellowship at Wits Journalism (including access to library and university services), and more.

The program is run by Wits Journalism with the Tshimologong Digital Innovation Precinct, in partnership with Ryerson University in Toronto and Journalists for Human Rights.

The deadline is Oct. 31.
