Knight Center offers free online course on data journalism [Brazil]

Journalists, students and others can access this free course.

The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas, in partnership with Escola de Dados, presents the Open Massive Online Course (MOOC), "Introduction to data journalism: how to interview data for investigative stories" in Portuguese.

The self-directd course, which will run Aug. 5 to Sept. 8, will be divided into five weekly modules.

Participants will learn basic techniques of the data reporting workflow, the most common problems in each of these steps and possible solutions.

The instructors are Natália Mazotte, executive director of Open Knowledge Brasil; Adriano Belisário, coordinator of Escola de Dados; Álvaro Justen, founder of the open data portal Brasil.IO; and Rodrigo Menegat, infographics journalist at Estadão.

The training is free and accessible to anyone anywhere in the world with access to the internet. Anyone who wants to receive a certificate must pay a US$30 administrative fee.
