Journalists whose work is published or broadcast in the United States can apply for an award.

The Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Awards, presented by Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, honor outstanding reporting on human rights, social justice and the power of individual action in the United States and around the world.

The contest features six categories: print, TV, radio, photography, new media and editorial cartoon. There are also two subcategories: domestic and international news coverage. 

Each category winner receives US$1,000 and a bust of Robert Kennedy. The grand prize winner receives an additional cash prize. 

The entry fee is US$75. There is no entry fee for high school or college categories.

The deadline is Feb. 1.
