A new web, iPhone and iPad application called Facts on the Ground uses mapping technologies to publicize news and information on Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

According to The Guardian, the application will allow anyone, anywhere, to access comprehensive, real-time information about Israeli settlements and learn what is happening on the ground in the Palestinian territories. A Google Earth-type format displays map, satellite, hybrid or terrain images.

The app was built by the Washington, D.C.-based American Friends of Peace Now (APN).

"Our app will update constantly to reflect breaking events such as settlement or outpost construction, outpost removals, Palestinian violence or settler violence, making it a real-time tool that provides context to the ever-changing situation in Israel and the West Bank," APN told The Guardian.
