Media entrepreneurs in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) have a new opportunity to take their digital projects to the next level.

IJNet Arabic has launched the fourth round of its virtual mentoring center for media entrepreneurs in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Applicants must be working on digital media startups that target Arabic-speaking audiences.

The program will select 16 semi-finalists, and will then select eight participants from that pool. Participants will be paired with a mentor who will help them develop a plan to grow and sustain their startups over a one-year period. Training includes project management skills, social media strategies, digital innovation and business sustainability.

Besides attending virtual meetings and check-ins with their mentors, participants will receive full funding to travel to either Jordan or Lebanon to meet with their mentors in person.

Midway through the program, the eight participants and the mentors will meet in Amman, Jordan for a three-day bootcamp on entrepreneurship.

Participants are required to spend at least five hours a week working on their projects.

Other commitments include:

  • Participating in at least three online meetings with all of the program’s mentors and mentees.
  • Producing at least one blog post for IJNet Arabic about the mentoring experience – lessons learned, new skills and tools applied and challenges.

Applications must include:

  • An overview of tangible goals the mentoring project will help to achieve
  • An explanation of the expertise, tools and skills needed to realize the stated goals
  • Links to the startup’s website and social media accounts
  • An outline of the plan they are following to sustain and grow their startup in bullet point form

The top performing participants will receive up to US$4,000 in cash prizes to continue their projects.

Women are strongly encouraged to apply.

The deadline to apply is May 31, 2017.
