Associated Press seeks Indigenous Affairs Reporting Fellow [US]

Early-career reporters based in cities in the Mountain West can apply for an 18-month fellowship.

The Associated Press (AP) is hiring an Indigenous Affairs Reporting Fellow to produce multiformat, nuanced storytelling that centers Indigenous voices and adds new and underrepresented perspectives to the AP report. 

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of tribal sovereignty and the trust responsibility of the U.S. government, and a proven ability to cultivate sources to break news and produce enterprise for digital audiences. 

This temporary staff position lasts through June 2027.

The reporter is expected to be based in a city in the Mountain West, including Albuquerque, NM; Phoenix, AZ; Denver, CO; Billings, MT; or Cheyenne, WY.

The deadline is Sept. 2.
