AMWAJ offers fellowship for early-career journalists [Middle East]

Early-career journalists from the MENA region are eligible to apply for this fellowship program.

AMWAJ is accepting applications for the second call of its Early-Career Journalist Fellowship, a unique opportunity for emerging reporters from the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean.

The five-month fellowship, running from October 2025 to February 2026, is open to journalists with fewer than five years of experience, who reside in one of the following countries: Algeria, Cyprus, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Malta, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia or Türkiye. 

Successful applicants must be fluent in at least one of the following languages: Arabic, English, French, Turkish or Greek.

Selected fellows will receive a EUR4,000 (US$4,680) stipend, with the possibility of additional funding for travel and accommodation, if required for reporting assignments. Participants will benefit from personalized mentorship by the AMWAJ editorial team, have their work published in AMWAJ’s Stories/Tayyarat section, and may also be featured in  REVOLVE’s quarterly print magazine.

Proposed stories should focus on sustainability and its related sub-themes, including the circular economy, ecosystem restoration, energy transition, sustainable mobility and water resources. Applications with a multimedia focus are particularly encouraged.

The application deadline is Aug. 31.
