Journalists, editors, fact-checkers, product managers and newsroom employees can apply for this free online course.

JournalismAI is seeking applications for its JournalismAI Discovery to learn about the key principles of artificial intelligence in journalism. JournalismAI Discovery is organized by the JournalismAI team at the London School of Economics and Political Science (POLIS), in collaboration with Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ), and with support from the Google News Initiative (GNI).

The course consists of six modules and combines resources for individual study, with a collaborative learning environment. Starting on Aug. 5, a new part of the course will be delivered to your email inbox each week.

Participants will learn how artificial intelligence is currently used in journalism, what artificial intelligence is, and the importance of data and its impact on the possibilities, limitations and outcomes of AI-powered journalism projects. They will explore how to design a journalism project enhanced by artificial intelligence, the most common reasons AI projects fail and the best ways to avoid them, and review recent developments in AI technologies, including popular tools related to journalism.

The deadline for applications is July 27.
