Journalists interested in Malaysian politics and its implications for Southeast Asia can attend this free webinar.

In collaboration with Malaysia & Singapore Society of Australia (MASSA), and the Malaysian Student's Council of Australia (MASCA) state chapters of NSW, QLD, ACT, and VIC, the University of Sydney's Sydney Southeast Asia Center (SSEAC) is hosting an online roundtable discussion "One year of Anwar: State of the Nation" on Nov. 2 on the past 12 months in the Malaysian political scene.

The speakers will share insights into the major political players and dynamics, some of the key issues the voters face, whether Barisan Nasional (BN) will wither away to make place for Pakatan Harapan (PN), and the implications to Southeast Asia as ASEAN faces an uncertain future.

Speakers include Prof. James Chin, professor of Asian Studies at the University of Tasmania and leading commentator on Malaysian politics; Dr. Tricia Yeoh, CEO of IDEAS (Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs), an independent public policy think tank in Malaysia; and Greg Barton, research professor in Global Islamic Politics in the Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalization (ADI), Deakin University.
