Journalists reporting on violence against children in English or Spanish in Colombia, Kenya and the Philippines can enter a contest.
The World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) are accepting entries for the Violence Against Children Reporting Contest. The competition seeks to raise awareness and spur dialogue around critical – yet underreported – issues of violence against children around the world.
Each violence against children story submitted must be published between Sept. 1, 2022 and Oct. 16, 2022.
Entries may include multimedia stories, podcasts, photo reportage, cross-border stories and series of stories. Entries must use best reporting practices from the WHO new media guide for proper reporting on violence against children.
For each eligible country, winners will receive US$1,000 for first-place, US$750 for second-place and US$500 for third-place.
The deadline is Oct. 16.
