Journalists interested in investigating how federal pandemic assistance funds are disbursed can apply for this free online training.

The National Press Foundation (NPF) is offering the workshop "Tracking coronavirus relief funds: how to follow the taxpayers’ money" July 13 to 17.

The training will feature experts in corporate accountability, specific tools and data analytic techniques to help journalists cross-reference data sets, vet their assumptions and produce reliable analytic results.

Reporters from underfunded or local newsrooms who are tracking taxpayer funds allocated to smaller, rural, or underserved communities are encouraged to apply.

Participants are expected to dedicate a total of 10 hours to the training.

The deadline is June 29.
