First Draft offers training on disinformation crisis scenarios [US]

Journalists interested in mitigating the threats of disinformation can attend this free training.

First Draft is organizing 14 live simulation events that will immerse journalists in disinformation crisis scenarios.

The first workshop will take place Jan. 27 at the University of Oregon, followed by Jan. 29 at the University of Southern California, Jan. 31 at the Arizona State University, Feb. 17 at Detroit Free Press, Feb. 19 at the University of Missouri, Feb. 21 at the University of Texas, El Paso, Feb. 22 at the University of Texas, Austin, March 2 at Ohio University, March 4 at the University of Georgia and March 6 at Florida A&M University.

Participants will work on identifying disinformation online and develop protocols for responding to information emergencies. The training will also provide tools and resources on online newsgathering, verification and known tactics being used in 2020.
