Organizations interested in implementing media literacy programs can apply for a grant.

The U.S. Embassy in South Africa will fund workshops, lectures and media campaigns on "Becoming a responsible consumer of media." The program aims to train trainers and educators to educate South Africans to be responsible consumers of news.

Proposals must help frame the teaching of responsible media consumption in school settings, libraries, through social media platforms, via broadcast news, and in classrooms at the high school and university level; focus on methods of identifying misinformation and disinformation and creative ways to educate people to take responsibility for their own media consumption habits; and create a responsible media consumption campaign tailored for South Africans.

The total funding allocated is US$50,000.

The deadline is May 31.
