Citizen reporters for CNN may not get paid, but they will be celebrated. To commemorate five years of its iReport project, the news network is planning a month of meetup parties in August.

The idea is to get citizen journos together and also get them to work on a special birthday assignment for iReport.

There are 25 U.S. cities currently scheduled to host meetups, stretching from Washington, D.C. to Los Angeles. International cities include Abu Dhabi, Cairo, Lagos, London, Manila and Tokyo.

A list of cities -- more to come, organizers say -- and sign-up info for the free parties can be found here.

Earlier this year, CNN launched the first awards program for its unpaid reporters and recently announced that two of its citizen journalists had gone on to a news job and won a scholarship.
