Journalists based in the United States can register to attend a symposium and apply for funding.

The Center for Health Journalism at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism is offering its Child Welfare Symposium and Impact Reporting Fund. The initiatives support ambitious investigative or explanatory projects on the child welfare and foster care systems, as well as the social and economic policies and conditions that can strengthen or weaken families and communities.

The free virtual symposium will be held on Oct. 24. Journalists who attend the symposium can apply for the Impact Reporting Fund.

Grantees will receive US$2,000 to US$10,000 and five months of one-on-one mentoring.
